Ici la « fabrique » de centaines de milliers d’Icebergs, le glaciers Kangia vêle des Icebergs monstrueux dans le fjord d’Ilulissat à l’embouchure duquel se trouve la ville d’Ilulissat, certains peuvent atteindre 1 km de haut mais toujours avec les 2/3 immergés, le fjord étant peu profond, les icebergs y restent « coincés » et il peut se passer plusieurs années avant qu’ils soient expulsés dans la baie de Disko, poussé par de nouveaux icebergs issus du vêlage de Kangia et voguer librement dans la mer du labrador.
